The short version
A free educational tool in public beta, and we claim no rights in what you make with it.
QCanvas is a free educational tool that QCR MTÜ's team develops, maintains and provides. Use it for anything lawful, keep your own copies of your work, and expect a public beta to change as we build it. QCR MTÜ claims no rights in what you make with QCanvas. Estonian law applies. How we handle data is a separate document, our Privacy Policy.
What QCanvas is
QCanvas is free, in public beta, and used without an account.
QCanvas is a free educational tool for quantum computing, in public beta. QCR MTÜ's team develops it, maintains it and provides it to you. You use it without an account, and these terms are the agreement between you and QCR MTÜ while you do.
Using QCanvas
Use it lawfully, and do not overload the free services everyone shares.
- Use QCanvas lawfully, and do not use it to break the law or anyone else's rights.
- Do not abuse or overload the simulation and feedback services. They are free and shared, so automated or high-volume requests take them away from everyone else.
- Do not interfere with QCanvas, and do not try to reach parts of it that are not open to you.
- Respect other people's rights in whatever you bring onto the canvas.
If you break these rules, we may stop serving you. There is no account to close, and nothing you keep in this browser or in your own drive account is touched by that.
Your content
We claim no rights in your work, and keeping it safe is in your hands.
QCR MTÜ claims no rights in what you make with QCanvas and asks for no share of it. Your work lives in this browser and, when you choose, in your own drive account, and no QCanvas server stores it. That also means we cannot get it back for you, so export a file or link a drive and a copy survives a cleared browser or a lost machine.
What you make does reach us on two paths. Running a simulation or exporting code sends the circuit to our simulation service, and the feedback form sends the message you type. Our Privacy Policy says what each of them receives and what becomes of it.
Your drive account
Your drive account is governed by your provider's terms, not by ours.
When you link a Google Drive or a OneDrive account, that account and the files in it are governed by the provider's own terms, and your relationship over them is with the provider. You can revoke QCanvas's access at any time in your account with them. QCR MTÜ is not the provider of your drive, does not control it, and cannot restore something the provider removes.
Services from others
The outside services QCanvas touches, each under its own terms.
- Google and Microsoft, when you link a drive account of your own.
- YouTube, when a video element on the canvas shows a thumbnail or plays a video.
- Plausible, which counts use of QCanvas.
- MailerLite, which sends our newsletter if you subscribe.
- Discord, which carries feedback to our team and hosts our community.
Each of these has its own terms and its own privacy policy, and those apply to what it does. Our Privacy Policy says what reaches each of them.
QCanvas itself
Use QCanvas for any lawful purpose, and we ask for no share of what you make.
You may use QCanvas for any lawful purpose to make your own content: teaching material, lectures, notes, research, whatever your work needs. Nothing here claims a right in what you make or asks for a share of it. Rights in something you brought onto the canvas from somewhere else are between you and whoever made it.
Availability and changes
QCanvas is in public beta, so it changes often and without warning.
QCanvas is in public beta. We change it as we build it, and we may pause or stop any part of it. We do not promise that it is available, that a feature works the way it worked yesterday, or that something you relied on stays. Keeping your own copies is what protects you from that, so export a file or link a drive account for anything you want to keep.
No warranty, limited liability
QCanvas comes as it is, and our liability is limited to what the law allows.
QCanvas is provided as it is, with no warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty that it is fit for a particular purpose or that it works without interruption or error.
To the extent the law permits, QCR MTÜ is not liable for lost work, lost data, lost profits, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of QCanvas or from being unable to use it. Nothing here limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit, and if you use QCanvas as a consumer, the mandatory rights you have under the law where you live are unaffected.
Governing law
Estonian law applies, and disputes go to the courts of Tallinn.
These terms are governed by the law of Estonia, and disputes about them go to the courts of Tallinn, Estonia. If you use QCanvas as a consumer, this does not take away the protection of the mandatory rules of the country you live in, or your right to bring a case where those rules allow.
Changes to these terms
These terms change as QCanvas changes, and the date at the top is the record of it.
QCanvas is in public beta and we change it as we build it, so these terms change with it: when a feature arrives or goes, when the services behind QCanvas change, and when the law asks for something different. The last-updated date at the top of this page moves whenever this text does, so that date is the record of every change.
The version published here is the one that applies while you use QCanvas, and it applies because it is the current one, not because staying quiet counted as your agreement to it. There is no account for us to write to today, so this page is where you read the terms as they stand. You are free to stop using QCanvas at any time, and nothing is lost if you do: there is no account to close, and your work stays where it is, in this browser, in your local save files or in any drive account you linked.
